Listen to Alternate Mix of Temple of the Dog’s ‘Say Hello 2 Heaven’
On Sept. 30 — one week from today — Temple of the Dog will release a 25th anniversary edition of their only album. Now, they’re giving us an alternate mix of the record’s second single, “Say Hello 2 Heaven.” You can hear it, and watch the “pseudo video” they made for it, above.
Consequence of Sound notes that this version removes most of the reverb from Chris Cornell’s voice and places it higher in the mix than before. It’s the fourth track from the collection they’ve given us to date. This includes two demos of songs that didn’t make the cut, “Black Cat” and “Angel of Fire,” and an different mix of the hit single “Hunger Strike.”
The super deluxe edition of the record has four discs containing a new mix of Temple of the Dog by Brendan O’Brien, a handful of demos, outtakes and alternate mixes, a DVD containing some of the few live performances they’ve done and Blu-ray audio disc. There’s also book with liner notes by David Fricke, an exclusive litho, a poster and a sticker.
Temple of the Dog, a supergroup comprised of members of Soundgarden and Pearl Jam that came together to mourn the loss of Andrew Wood of Mother Love Bone, will embark on their first-ever tour in November, with eight shows in five cities. However, all dates are sold out. Eddie Vedder, who duetted with Cornell on “Hunger Strike,” is not participating, but he has been given an open invitation to join them.
